Addendum: My advice is still the same, try different apps. Here is a link to a converter that may help if nothing else works. It says 95/98 but may work on XP as well. If nothing reads them, they could be damaged. Maybe a Mac user could open and convert them for you. Ignore the following unless you want to get even more useless info that probably won't help unless you're interested in the details of decoding file formats. OK this gets more confusing, sorry. First, I just realized it is XnView I'm using, not Irfanview. I loaded Irfanview and it read the files but reported that they were jpegs with the wrong extention! Again, the images appear to be cut off so I have no Idea what's going on, error or they were created that way. I was curious enough to look at one in a hex editor. .jpg files have a distinctive signature starting with the first two bytes which are FF D8. The file in question has the FF D8 but not at the beginning of the file. I did a little research on Mac formats and the beginning of the file seems to resemble a Mac pict file signature created in PhotoShop. As far as I can tell, it's some weird hybrid or garbled conversion--just my luck that these were the only two .pict files I had available to test.
