It's rather sad, isn't it? We just lost gebe and not so long ago Ironhart, and instead of celebrating art and how meaningful it can be to people, we continue to natter about who is or is not in a meaningless contest of who has the most friends. I don't have a gallery because I'm not an artist, but even I know that real artists don't create to win popularity contests. They create because that's what they as artists do. They inspire. They communicate. They rise above the public taste and create something never seen before. The Hot 20 isn't about art. But your galleries can be.
It's easy to ignore the Hot 20. Don't look at it. Let the friends nominate and vote for each other. Who cares? It doesn't matter.
Instead, look in the galleries and put your lists out on the forums of the real artists, the real finds.
They're there. They are the ones who should be saluted.
Even a non-artist like me can figure that one out.
Very sad. The Hot 20 is not what gebe and Ironhart were about. They did what they did, and shared what they did out of love. That seems to me to be what art is about.
I guess, as always, I'm wrong. Oh, and before anyone yammers, the views so stated are mine and mine alone and not representative of the views of the Administrators, Moderators, or Coordinators of this website.
