If it adjusts morphs and doesn't load textures, then it's not a MAT pose. Will a saved material pose work? Well I guess that depends how you save it. Poser doesn't provide any method for saving MAT poses, so you need something like Hogwarden's QuickMAT or one of the python scripts that are floating around or MAT Pose Edit by Scourge. I use QuickMAT. I can vouch for that one working. Some figures have way more material zones than they need (all of the DAZ series 3 figures for example). One approach you can use is to modify the mesh by unifying some of the materials. It's easy to do with UV mapper. If you know how, it can also be done with Poser's Group Editor without too much effort. There's more scope for making mistakes that way though.
