The biggest missed opportunity here is by DAZ! Because they purchased Bryce, DAZ put themselves in direct competition with Vue, Mojo World, etc. -Since DAZ's primary business, which is making 3D models and selling them, and NOT 3D software (which they still seem to be struggling with)- they missed a big chance to make the DAZ file format a new 3D Model standard. DAZ could have offered the DAZ import format free to E-On, Pandromedia, etc. and this could have made it extremely popular, useful, and totally to DAZ's advantage in selling model products... Instead, by buying a dinosaur of a renderer with Bryce, they have clearly driven everyone away and into the Poser format camp. And to make Bryce even up to speed, DAZ has to spend even more money trying to catch up with Vue, Mojo World, etc. (And what if the makers of Terragen were to sign up for a Curious Labs SDK Import kit?). Of course, DAZ may eventually convince these other 3D app makers to support the DAZ file import format- but they have missed a major chance, I think, to make it a standard NOW. Making DAZ Studio as a free intro program might well be in DAZ's interest, but buying Bryce was a big strategic mistake, I think...
