If you uncheck the resample box and change the DPI to 300, instead of changing the print size that will give you an exact print size. The confusion between image resolution (dimensions) and image resolution (DPI) is a common one. Having a DPI of 300 will give you print quality prints (I think that makes sense) When you get round to learning about RAW this will help you, as this may (depending on your camera and software used for RAW conversion) put out 240 or greater DPI.
