Subject: XenoDream models in Bryce

I've been admiring some of the impressive images created with XenoDream for some time, but was unwilling to give up Bryce as my composing & rendering environment, so didn't take the plunge. But finally, as of a few days ago, XenoDream 1.5, which has a mesh export function, became available - so I bought & downloaded a copy. I've just barely started the tutorials & it definitely isn't as intuitive an environment as Bryce, but it is powerful & has a lot of preset shapes & functions that make it relatively easy to generate very nice models. I've been able to import several XenoDream models into Bryce & am very happy with the results so far. A friend of mine, Morris does some incredible work with XD then uses them in Bryce - link is an example but take a look through the rest of his gallery :-)

And for those who wondered about the program... :-) Nice pic. But, for me, the utility of XenoDream would be limited. I'm not into fractals. There could be quite a lot of usage for corals and similar stuff, though. How big are the meshes? OBJ format is not wxactly noted for its compactness.

Erlik - The 4 obj files I used in my piece ranged from 2mb to 13mb & the resulting Bryce file (which included a few other imported models) was a little over 50mb. XenoDream's export function does have several controls that allow you to optimize the size, but I haven't played with them yet. As for the utility of the models, if you're interested primarily in realism, I would agree that they probably wouldn't be very useful. Personally, I have absolutely no interest in realism - I create only internal landscapes, so for me it's an effective & unique tool in my arsenal...
