I'll start, since mine is really stupid and really simple. After a year with Poser I kept trying to figure out how to get my pictures looking like the ones I saw on Renderosity and how to get that "main camera" out of the corner and sometimes the outlines of invisble objects like cameras. Then I discovered...yup, you guessed it, "Render" for a year I was getting frustrated with Poser (Install for a month, uninstall...back and forth) just because I was too smart to read the instructions and figure out what the "f" a render was. LOL

Got one too. I had poser for about 1 month before my 9 year old son (on his first try in Poser) showed me that I could scroll down and/or maximize the dail box.

I used poser from version one but when I eventually got poser 4 it took me a few weeks to work out how to add clothes to figures and make them conform. I found out by reading the manual.

For the first few months I used only the default settings on everything...

It took me about a year to figure out that I didn't have to pose the figures by directly grabbing a body part and moving it. There are DIALS for that! blush bonni

When I was working at Curious Labs I was asked to give a demo to some Japanese ladies from our Japan marketing company. One of them was recording the demo with a video camera to take back to show the rest of the marketing group. My Boss says: Show a demo to these nice ladies? I smile and say: Sure! I was testing Poser 5 cameras and had deleted the figure from the scene. I go into the library and load Nude Don. and BAM! Right in front of us is a full screen shot of a big fat penis! They giggled and whispered something in japanese. I try to casually recover by quickly switching to the face camera and shwing them how morph targets work. I say: "See how this works? I turn the dial for the "L" and the mouth makes the "L" position". I'm sitting there like a dumbass buzzing like a chainsaw. "l-l-l-l-l-l-l l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l l-l-l-l-l-l-l". "See the tongue? It's up in the "L" position". They giggled and said something in Japanese. I find out after the demo that the japanese alphabet HAS NO L! They have no friggin L sound at all. Nice graceful recovery right? :)

OK when i first got Poser 5 which was my very first of any 3D software I Rendered in "Draft" mode for weeks before noticing that I needed to change to "production". Sad but true!

I've been using Poser for two years now and I only found out a couple of weeks ago what the UI dots are for. I was just too lazy to pick up the manual and read it, I guess. Best Blessings, --Invidia

"I find out after the demo that the japanese alphabet HAS NO L! They have no friggin L sound at all." OMG. That's friggin hilarious! I spit out my coffee on that one.

I'd been using Poser for a year before I discovered hand poses. I'd been posing hands joint by joint all that time.

"Got one too. I had poser for about 1 month before my 9 year old son (on his first try in Poser) showed me that I could scroll down and/or maximize the dail box. " Well, I've been using Poser full-time for 4 years, and didn't realize that until I read your message just now!!!!!! Untold hours wasted in scrolling up and down between X offset and Z tran. I thought that half-circle thing below the parm box was a decoration. Never once tried pulling on it!

" It took me about a year to figure out that I didn't have to pose the figures by directly grabbing a body part and moving it. There are DIALS for that! blush bonni" me like moving by grabbing the parts. since with drag and drop I can hit the right place in a second. with the dials same thing takes half an hour. took me two years to figure out you could get a decent view of four panes, that you weren't shafted with only one view at a time. ( worst idea possible, after big buttons wasting working space, one viewport. )

randym77 ( ) posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 6:23 AM

I knew about the multiple views and the parameter dial resizing because I often accidentally clicked on them. Actually, with the multiple panes, it wasn't clicking on them; there must be some hot key combination that triggers it, because sometimes I'll be working in the parameter dials box, nowhere near the view controls, and I'll suddenly have four panes up, instead of one. (The first time it happened, I didn't know how to fix it, and ended up getting out of Poser and getting back in. LOL!)

One thing it did take me an embarrassingly long time to notice: the view controls above the upper right corner of the main preview window. I used the parameter dials to control the camera for the longest time.

sheepish grin Took me a few months to figure out who the heck that Posette figure was that everyone was always talking about, after searching the freebie sites for a couple of weeks trying to find her I finally asked a friend and was mortified to find out Posette was just the nickname for the P4 Nude Woman ;) lol
