Ok, the good news is that dpi does not count really. It is the absolute amount number of pixels one renders. Wether they are spread onto more or less inches (dpi=dots per inch) does not matter because it can easily be changed without any quality change in a program like Photoshop. And when i need images with higher dpi settings i have to open it in Photoshop (for example to change the color mode to CMYK) anyway so no big deal really. As long as you render it to the right pixel size therefore be happy and accept the little glitch that a number is not transfered correctly to the paint program you use.
