In the tutorials section at Curious Labs you can find a short table for cloth settings. For cloth that should drape nicely, I often reduce fold resistance to 1 and shear resistance to 5, leaving stretch resistance at 50. For stiff materials like leather I increase fold resistance to 50 or more, shear resistance to 100 or more, and stretch resistance to 1000 (the maximum). I also increase the cloth density (standard value is about right for light cotton, decrease to .0020 for silk, increase for heavier materials) If you increase the cloth density, it's often a good idea to increase stretch resistance too. I don't know of a list of shader settings. Most real-life cloth has some subsurface scattering, and that's something the shader room does not do very well. You could try the Skin node.
