This is a wip on my current project... a melding of bushi's mech angel wings and WyrmMaster's Bladewoman with one of bebops textures. It's not quite through anti-aliasing... I stopped it a bit short to export the image so I could actually get some sleep today. :) Basically, I'm trolling for ideas on other scene elements that might work, as well as ideas on lighting etc... I'm going for a stark and elegant look, but I want to achieve something that's a companion to my "Protector of the Slain" piece in the same vein. When I wake up I'll finish the texturing and check back her to see if any suggestions have surfaced... Any ideas wil be welcome... I'm blocked a bit on where to go from here right now.

the texturing on the wings is elegant in it'self from what I can tell with the small bit of anti-aliasing makes the wings seem like they are fading off..nice effect. she seems like a character that would be nice in a low light scene. Not sure if you did this on purpose but one boot seems higher then other..

Very nice. I like the pose & the wing textures. Keep it up!

Thanks TNM... the wings are one of the variants that bushi tosses into his MekAngel pack on the download [there are about 20 different wing textures, it's one of the most complete downloads I've seen], and I cribbed the pose from a Witchblade ad in Wizard magazine. It was tough to get the pose translated to the Bladewoman figure - you don't have the freedon to draw it so it works as an artist on paper does. :) Don't know what to say about the boot, the pose was intentional, the apparent illusion of it being higher than the other wasn't. The right leg is bent slightly at the thigh and calf, with the right foot bent down as in taking a step forward... but it doesn't quite look right from that angle. I'll probably mask it somehow in post... that BW armor is too complex to want to repose and retexture at this point...

Oh... btw, I think I got past the block and figured out what elements to add to get the effect I want. I'll post the next stage here and ask for help on lighting when i get the prelim render done.

Very nice work Ironbear, looking forward to the final render, only thing I could add is that it would look awesome with some kind of reflective material in the ground plane to reflect the wings above it,pool of water or something.

I'm working on building the final version for final render now... Hrmmm... that "smoky mirror" glass texture on the ground plane is pretty reflective, but the wings don't reflect at that angle - and I'm not sure how to get them to do so without completely rebuilding the scene. I agree, it would make for a stunning bit of imagery if I could get those wings into the ground reflections... mayhaps I'll have to do a second scen with the Battle Angel figure farther out from the focal point... Heya... there's an idea, a battle scene with the Battle angel and the Protector locked in mortal combat over a departed soul? Thanks, ironbrew... you just gave me an idea. And doubled my workload, but no makey. :)

I have all of the elements in place now. There's a bit of final tweaking to be done, but I thought I'd share the final stages with you here. I decided to go with a variation on "Protector" for the background to make it fit the series... Thanks for all the input. With all of the transmapping and reflectiity, it looks like a full, high-res, anti-aliased render is going to take awhile, so it'll be several days before the final version goes up in the gallery. PS: I am thinking seriously of doing a next in the series featuring a fight between the Battle Angel and the Protector, I even have a working title: "Souls in the balance"... it's going to be a mother to put together, those characters make for huge bryce files.
