More 'RAM' will have a minimal effect on render speed. What will have the most impact is a faster 'CPU' and 'FSB' - sticking with the acronymic portrayal... Plus, you'd be amazed at what a disk defragment can do to overall system performance, especially if your boot drive is in desparate need. Of course, 1 to 2GB of memory is never a bad thing. ;)

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.
