THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: What can Bryce do for me..!

Or perhaps I should say... what can I do with Bryce..? At the moment I use Carrara for modelling and Poser for posing, etc. Thing is... I just won a copy of Bryce in a Crismus compo and I know nothing about the program. Is it compatible with Carrara and Poser in any ways and where would/could it fit in the chain..? ziggie

Bryce has a powerful user interface. If you use Carrara, and can get anywhere on it, prepare to be blown away by Bryce's simplicity and the power, and SLOWNESS, of it's Ray-Tracer... You'll find yourself rendering in Bryce, neither Carrara NOR Poser let you set up a scene as easily and fluidly as Bryce does. Although Carrara has a more powerful rendering engine... Poser, on the other hand, is a pale shadow for composition and rendering when compared to Bryce. You'll find yourself using Poser for exporting characters, and that's about it. The program is unstable and the controls and libraries are just plain ridiculous. Now, you might say, "That's YOUR opinion!" Well, of course it's my opinion! You'll know for fact that it's my opinion, because I typed it all!

Maybe your question would be more easier to answer if you asked what Bryce cannot do, really, with enough patience and practice there is no limits. After you learn a tool it's all up to you then...

It is comparable in some sence to Vue an Carrara, if that's what you wanna know, it is categorised as they are...:D [ lol @ LSD ]

You are in that wonderful position of being just about to learn the fantastic possibilities before you. My tip? Take a look at the Bryce Gallery and be prepared to have your jaw drop to the floor. Held in contempt by those using mega-expensive applications, Bryce is The program for the finacially challenged. With patience, you can learn - in a very short space of time - to do wonderful things. IMHO there is nothing that cannot be achieved in Bryce....and to top it all, there are some amazing people right here on this forum that will bend over backwards to help you! Good luck and have fun...oh...and Welcome to the Asylum!

it won't make your breath smell better, get you the girl, or win the election; but you can put out pretty interesting stuff with good detail, lighting, and more materials (and easier to use than Poser, don't necessarily need all the UHF-mapping, er, UVMapping..;) than you can shake a stick at. If it was still around, I'd say look for the Watchful Eye site to see what the experts can do for it (it had a Bryce forum gallery to die for..;)

I agree that you are in the wonderful position of exploring the program. When I first got it I played with it for hours and I have an older version! I think the most fun is creating my own textures and adding to them. I once suggested to someone that they could recreate their local environment and sell the pictures as Christmas cards and the like.
