"What 3D Program Should I buy?" Not one person here can really tell you what's best for you, as everyone has their own taste in workflow. Try the demo or learning edition of the program you're interested in, this is the only way to find out which programs you like.
Looks like an interesting program. Never heard of this one before, yet it appears to have been around a while. Dunno why it's called ppmodeler though. (Maybe its an abbreviation for something in French, but in English pp might have some connotations. LOL.)
Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.
Also feel free to browse my freebies at ShareCG.
There might be something worth downloading.
I dunno. I have this weird habit of trying any 3D proggie I can get my hands on. I'd never heard of it before, and it's pretty sophisticated for a freeware proggie. I wouldn't have found it at all except I was looking through the downloads at the Computer Arts website and it was on there. I was particularly impressed that one of the features was projected textures. My MAX 3D doesn't have that. I don't think lol. Or if it does I've never found it, and I could have used it a few times. Course, I use MAX 3, newer versions probably have projection. My friend David has the newest version of Cinema 4D, and the hair and cloth features in it make me horribly jealous lol. And I still need to learn Xfrog. It's very confusing.

Speaking of free programs, this cool one showed up at the Bryce forum not too long ago. A Java based tree generator. A sort of cheap alternative to Xfrog.Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.

Ok I'll bite. I am downloading it now. I just picked up wings pretty good overall. I will still use metaseqoia for some things that being a splind modeller . I will also get the manual.

I cheated on my metaphysics exam by looking into the soul of the
person next to me.
Yes, it can also export in .obj and .dxf formats. Only the POV format will export with UVmapping, but the models export with the leaves and Trunk/stems as separate parts so you can give them different textures. I have to say that the output looks quite nice. There are 20 preset trees and plants. Most of them look better than Bryce trees, and you have quite a bit of control over the appearance of the finished model.
Great! Thanks nruddock! I can't write code to save my life, lol, so it is wonderful that there are folks in the Modeling Forum who also have that talent. The only other prob I've run into with the prog is that the preset willow tree tends to get stuck at around 7% when it is exporting the model file in any of the formats available. The black oak is a little problematic too as it is so poly heavy that I haven't been able to import it into any rendering app.:-)
