We're also talking about a soldier in a war-torn, foreign country. We're not talking about a cushy military barracks in the US. Admittedly, I was in the National Guard. My own US experience was more primitive. I was always in the old "Temporary Barracks" made during World War II. Our only furnishings consisted of a bunk and a foot locker. We were lucky to have a bathroom indoors. One barracks had the bathrooms in a big shed outside. Another thing that concerns me: usually I'm able to swap "stories," or "military talk" with anyone who's in the service. I didn't get any of that, even in Private Messages. Beyond that, I have more pressing personal concerns.
