I started on a steam-powerd computer, with wooden gear wheels. Way before the Babbage guy came around. When we wanted to overclock to get a really fast answer it we used to hang a wrench on the safety valve (ask Mark Twain about that!)... Seriously, though, I did talk to a guy that explained why so many sites that sell stuff use Flash and other things that make it almost impossable to view them on dialup- he said they don't want dial-up customers, anybody that so cheap that they wouldn't buy broadband wouldn't spend any money, anyway. That's what he said, no, I don't agree with it, and yes, I know some people can't get broadband. ;-)
