As misha said, labels corrode the reflection layer. In a year or so your DVD's might not be readable at all. I've toyed with the idea of storing it on DVD, but I've chosen to store them all on my computer and a copy on my fileserver. The chance that both crash at the same time is very very small. Both run differen't OS's. For me that's the safest way at the moment.
