I did a render today that I am just not happy with. I like everything about the image except the hair which I tried to draw myself. I would really appreciate it if whoever has the time could go and post a review at the render and tell me what I did right...and what I did wrong. You're not going to hurt my feelings so be blunt. Everyone who does so will get a free giftie from me! Thanks for the help! P.S. If I am not allowed to do this in this forum then I apologize. I've tried for the last three hours to get 5 admins to let me know if this was allowed and the two that replied didn't know.

First the coloring of the scene doesn't look very natural. Too green. Try adjusting the lighting. The skirt is embedded in her left thigh, try to move the skirt away from her leg some or postwork it. Also the left bottom side of the blouse is flying up at a really strange angle. The fingers also look a little kinked, try straightening them out some. OTOH the face looks really nice, the breast have a nice natural looking heft to them and the stomach has a nice natural looking layer of fat on it. As for hair, have you tried Kazaburo's hair? I really like that hair. Click on Digital Babes in the Web Ring Top 15 to the left for the link

I wouldn't call the hair crappy. It has less detail or is softer than other elements in the scene. When I paint hair, I find that at my rendered image's resolution, I can't get a fine enough line for hair strands. What I do is resize by 3-4 times the original, then work on the hair, then resize down to the resolution I want.

It looks like a good start to the hair, but doesn't look finished. digitalbabes2.com ( I think that is the URL) has a hair texture painting tutorial on the site that may help you with your layering and highlights. All in all a good start. Additional the skirt looks to be stuck in her left leg.

I would agree with the above poster, the problem with the hair is it needs more fine highlights and a little more layering. Right now it looks a little "clumpy" is the best way I can describe it. Add a little more dimension to it, and it would look really good. You have the basic shape down really well. - Noel

She seems to be floating in air, the edge of the skirt wouldn`t be the only part touching the ground in this pose.

I have to agree with the comment about the skirt being "imbedded" in her thigh. Also, "antje has a very good tutorial (available in Freestuff) on painting hair in PhotoShop and there are a few, free Hair "brushes" for PSP and PS too.

It doesn't need much, I hope you don't mind , but I played with it about 15 minutes and this is what I came up with.

I think that you are off to a really great start....... the hair does look a little blurry/smudgy though..... like maybe you used the smudge tool a bit too much. Maybe do less smudging, and a lil more concentrating on the individual strands. I really like using cimmerone's hairbrushes (available in the marketplace) when painting hair..... there are a few free ones available also....have you tried anything like that? Also in the image, the left side of the shirt is kinda defying gravity there a lil bit, and the left side of the skirt does look a lil off. Those should both be pretty easily fixed though. Hope I was of some help ;)

Personaly, the hair is awsome, I like the realism that you did when you drew it. If thats the first time you did it, then it looks awsome. The top of the hair could be a little more smooth though. Other then that its awsome for your first try.

Hey personally I like it alot. The hair is not bad, kind of like a model with a bad hair day. But overall I really like and the way you did the hair. Not everyone has perfect hair. On a personal note I have cowlick in the front and a double crown. A result is I never have a good hair day. ;)
