I've noticed that; sometimes you get the 2nd item on, and then you have to wade through whether you're scaling that layer, the one under it, or even the body parts in question. I don't know for sure, but possibly you can re-texture the thing, I think that's what some do. But you'll need to get permission from the original creator first.
