Oh, god! Does that bring up memories of crowded filks, back in the days when everybody could sing along. With enthusiasm even if not much skill. Lots of enthusiam. "You Bash the Balrog" "Banned From Argo" and "Never Set the Cat on Fire" for sheer raw humor. "Cranes Over Hiroshima" for passion. I brought my boss, who'd gone to school in Japan, to a filk once. Walked over to Joey's side of the circle and dropped 3 origami cranes (red and white and gold) on his guitar. When he finished, the entire room was in tears. Gorgeous harmonies. My boss had been to that memorial. "Ship of Stone" and "Hope Eyrie" and "Fire in the Sky" to remind of us of achievements made and dreams still to be worked for. (Don Simpson is a member here, and so is Paul MacDonald... if you remember Paul and Cathy (who'd lead "Lord of the Dance"), they are doing well, but the kids have grown!!!) You know, I'd like to know what that odd green potion was, too. ;^) Carolly hmmm... I think I'm going to pull off the Return of the King, and slip some Bill Sutton on the stereo. His song about the druid in the dying tree fits my mood.
