Right here in the Web one has two possibilities: 1) to post his work publicly and thus risk everyone to download (and do whatever he wants to) it, and 2) to not post. My only hope is that the behavior of only a few being inconsiderate wont lead to artists having - if at all - only their "second-degree" works posted and thus hiding their best works from the many who'd appreciate to see them in the long run.
