two more cents... I liked 3DS Max when I had an oppertunity to work with it. Now D|S is no Max, but the interface seemed more intuitive to me after working in Max. For that alone I jumped on the D|S bandwagon. Add the cost advantage and everything else... and it makes a decent free product.
