Subject: PhilC's Gladys figure is by FAR, the funniest figure you can own!

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 8:52 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 2:46 AM

Dr. Geep will be humbled by PhilC's latest creation, Gladys! I normally don;t blatantly "hawk" a poser figure, but Gladys is a MUSt OWN for every poser artist! She has hidden "secrets" Phil has asked NOT be revealed, so others can enjoy the discovery on their own. She only cost me like a buck or two, so I recommend everyone run out and snag her! Do you have a screen shot of her?

Nevermind, I found her...Might get her later. How is the hair?

Here's one snatched from his website...but it doesn't let you in on the "jokes" at all.

OK...I'm not sure what the joke is supposed to be...I guess I'll have to buy her and find out...

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 12:47 PM

The hair is part of the character's head, and is the simple bun you see.

I just bought her so I'll have to see what I can do with her :)

OK. I give up. What's PhilC's website URL?

Before they made me they broke the mold!

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 1:37 PM

That PhilC is a strange man indeed... But I don't want to be the one to give away the surprise ;) Seriously though, I was playing around with her and I think if someone could make some eyelashes and some additional morphs, she would make a versatile figure. She kind of has that Nurse Ratchet feel to her if you know what I mean ;)

sixus1 ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 1:49 PM

I don't have her, but can I guess ?? Her head pulls off like a mask ? She is actually two midgets with one standing on the other's shoulders ?? Even close ? --Rebekah--

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 1:53 PM

Nope, not 2 midgets. Spend the $2, Bekah... it's worth it for the laugh!

Nope, not spending the money, I'd rather guess, I like the challenge :) What does Soylent Green actually look like anyway ? Dog food or steaks ?? I don't remember.

Just trying to make her a little more girly :) BTW, I used real skin shader on the skin so I hope it has a nice effect :)

Soylent Green was later successfully remarketed as fruit roll-ups. It's amazing what a little food dye and some colourful cartoon characters on the packaging can do ....

sixus1 ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 2:21 PM

Thanks. I was a toddler when that came out and I couldn't remember. I just remember being horrified that they ate people. :) Maybe she has chicken legs under that coat.... --Rebekah--

"Soylent Green was later successfully remarketed as fruit roll-ups" :) LOL When my son was 5, he was eating beef jerky one day and asked me what it was made from. I said, "Oh, its made from people meat". After a very slight pause, he said "Hmmm...can I have another piece?" That's my kid :) --Rebekah--

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 2:42 PM

LOL at Rebekah :) Have you asked him whether he wants to be a forensic scientist?

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 2:45 PM

I'll buy it when I get home. $2 for an entire original figure? Why not?

She reminds me of those Nazi women soldiers in Return to Castle Wolfenstein...

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 2:52 PM

Underneath those clothes, she has a body like a supermodel. Right? I have to admit -- she's one of the more unusual-looking characters that I've seen. Sort of a combination sci-fi warrior and cleaning lady.

Now I remember....... This woman looks a lot like the cafeteria lady at my old high school. Where's her hair net? So this is what she used to do in her spare time, eh?

LOL...there's not much distinguishing her chin from her neck... But it would be neat to see what people will do with her beyond the joke...

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 08 February 2005 at 4:55 PM

One thing I found really neat, is that she loads with a conforming figure already conformed on a figure. I hadn;t seen that accomplishment yet.

When you save your figure into the library with a conforming garment on it will ask, while figure or single figure, choose the whole figure and everything will be saved. This is great if you are doing an animatin and do not want ot have to dress your figures again and again.

Nurse Gladys Emmanuel was a character in BBC sitcom called Open All Hours. Gladys Emannuel (left) object of Arkwright's (centre) desire. Nurses uniform anyone.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Wed, 09 February 2005 at 1:43 AM

I get BBC America, but I've never seen that sitcom. I suppose that they don't carry it over here. Perhaps they do....I should check the schedule. This figure doesn't look much like the actress........

The name is the same but the body was changed to protect the innocent.

Many thanks for your comments, I've had a great day reading this thread and your emails. Next be on the look out for Compo, Nora, Howard and Marina. Plus possibly Wesley and Edie.

Xenophonz - Open All Hours was originally aired on the BBC in 1973 & has been repeated over the years. BBC America might not show it as it is so old.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Wed, 09 February 2005 at 12:24 PM · edited Wed, 09 February 2005 at 12:27 PM

It's true that BBC America mostly tends to feature the newer stuff. But sometimes, we do see old BBC series over here.

I think that it's on Friday nights.....you'll see The Avengers and The Saint. Old -- but still interesting -- shows like that.

Are You Being Served and Fawlty Towers come to mind.

Keeping Up Appearances is also a favorite over here -- although that particular series is much more recent than some of the others.

Perhaps PhilC should consider making a clone of Hyacinth Bucket (Patricia Routledge).

Somehow, the idea of Hyacinth wearing sci-fi warrior clothing strikes me as particularly.......weird.
