All of my animated magnet applications involve only the magnet itself, though I can imagine instances when animating the zone might be useful. But even for reactions like squashing (e.g., a rubber ball compressing when it hits the floor, or a water balloon flattening out when hurled), I would be inclined first to try changing the scale parameters of the magnet itself rather than animating any of the parameters for the zone.

Bottom line for me is that hitting just the tran parameters would do 99% of what I think I would use for gravity-related processes.
