There can be a lot of fiddling involved, and especially for a one-off there is a lot which might be better-done by other methods. And a worm isn't so unlike a rope. So look for a rope, or Little Dragon's Bushy Tail prop, and you might save a lot of work by making your original worm match in size, and then making it a conforming clothing item.
In essence, you go into the Poser Setup Room, and then load the character you want it to conform to. For something so simple, auto-grouping can work well.
It's not unlike what I've done to make a Judy or Posette clothing item fit to Furrette. But don't ask me to explain it.
(For your own use, there's nothing wrong with major scale changes to get something the right size, but it doesn't look so good in something you distribute, even freestuff.)
