Don't even get me started on the ash rain. A burning piece of brush embers blew right into my forehead on the day I had to attend a bar mitsva. The whole party was out doors and I was constantly assailed with burning flakes of thorny brush. I was 4 years old in the big 1994 quake that levelled a few shopping malls. I remember all the water and gas pipes being thrown up through the middle of the street and seeing water and burning gas mix in the road like some horrible experiment in the DTE. There haven't been any real floods near me. CA can be a dangerous place. Mostly because the rest of the country is pre-occupied with the notion that all Californians do is just surf all day.
