Unfortunately Wolfie has hit the nail on the head. A design job of any kind isn't so much fun when someone else isn't just telling you what they want, but how they want it to look - even though you know it won't look right and they'll probably blame you for that too.... I went through that with a company when I was in training at 17 using Quark etc. to design adverts and got sick of it so fast it's unreal - I totally went off it as a hobby for a few years. Someone I know got to know a local photographer at her sisters' wedding, and ended up going to shoots with him for a few months to see what it was really like - might be worth a try having a word with a couple of them so you see what the whole job really means, warts and all.
