pdblake is right. If you have the figure, and want to make an object to map in UVMapper, just export it as an object, and you will have a mappable object file. If, however, the figure can't be open, you don't have the figure, just the cr2 or whatever. Hmm....this doesn't make sense. How can a figure open in Poser without an object?
