Subject: Poser World ????

I know that Poserworld is very highly thought of here, both for their material and fair dealings. Yet every time I am set to purchase, those previews turn me right off! How many times have I been about to go through with the purchase when those preview images have kept me from going through with it. How is the quality, honestly? Can someone please point me to good renders that show the material in a representative manner? Thank you.

Here's another image with PoserWorld stuff, all of the clothes are from PoserWorld and the police is their newest CIPP 1573 . *How is the quality, honestly?* the quality is good to excellent. Keep in mind that some of the stuff is older (even from P3) so the quality is good, but the quality of the newer stuff is excellent. I've stopped purchasing at DAZ after getting the lifetime subscription at PoserWorld (unfortunally they stopped issuing the life time subscription by now).....

Over the years, the PW stuff gets better and better. Steve has learned new techniques in clothing making and they vary the types of items available. They create items for somebody besides just V3, which is a huge part of what is available everywhere else. So David, SP3, the new Millenium kids, the Freak, Aiko3, etc all get clothing. And vehicles and face morphs, and buildings, and now Lyrra does texturing and other enhancements to the subscription as well. It is a definite worthwhile thing to join.

Poserworld has excellent creations. They just don't do the web stuff as much or as well. But they've improved in that regard. They could probably benefit from a web master.

it's worthwhile joining for the shortest amount oft ime you can - there aren't enough updates to justify, say, a year-long sub (IMO)

Niles ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 3:12 PM

Quality is good to great, Figure support is the best of all sites even better than DAZ. Lots of props and complete scenes. It is a Great Deal. ImO :)

AlteredEgo ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 3:18 PM

Poserworld has lately been producing clothing in versions to fit many of the major figures. That's really helpful because it's often hard to find clothes for Stephanie 3, David and the Freak.

"it's worthwhile joining for the shortest amount oft ime you can - there aren't enough updates to justify, say, a year-long sub (IMO)"

An anual subscription is $60. Every week there's at least 2 new items, sometime even more (I've seen even 7 items coming in one week). That 57cent per item! Now you may not use everthing, but the value is great.

Let's do some comparisments. Let's just put a texture and clothes on V3. At renderosity it would cost you at least $24 ($10 for a dress or clothes set, $8 for shoes and $6 for V3 textures). At regular DAZ it would at least cost you $33 ($20 for clothes and $13 V3 texture). At platinum DAZ $36 ($30 membership, $2 textures, $2 clothes $2 shoes).

At PoserWorld you going to get a complete wardrobe for all of your figures for only $60, not only the clothes, but the rest they need (cars, houses, furniture and so on). Even if one wouldn't take all of the items created into account but only the ones released during the year, it would be worth every cent/penny spent.

Besides all of this, Steve and Lyrra a the best when it comes to honoring request. Try requesting something at DAZ, if you're lucky they may grant it, but don't bet on it. Try requesting something at Poserstyle, you may just as well never ask.

People don't think twice about spending lot's of money at DAZ or here and your telling us a year long subscription for only $60 isn't worthwhile?

All of this made me really wonder why others charge so much for their stuff. To really dress a Poser family here or at DAZ for example, will cost me more then clothing my real family. That's absurd. That's the reason I've stopped buying here or anywhere else, except for subscription sites. The quality is just as good, but the pricing is much better then single items. Also at PoserWorld they've got the 'normal' stuff I'm looking for. Most places seem to only focus on sexual tinted stuff. Not every one likes their space suit to look like ArtemisX or dressed that hardly cover anything..... If I would use most of the stuff they over here or at DAZ for my figures a lot of people who are exposed to my work would be very offended. That's the problem when dealing with all kinds of age groups, religious and ethnic backgrounds. So, for me PoserWorld is a must. Message edited on: 02/27/2005 15:42

Don't get me wrong, I really like PW's stuff, but since my sub expired last October that robot police guy has been the first item that has made me think about resubscribing.

wertu ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 6:03 PM

I do not mean to be cheap, but access to U.S. dollars is difficult for me and broadband internet is unavailable to me... I have to be buying content CDs as downloads are not an option but such transactions are quite dificult for me (often my only recourse is U.S. cash through the post... very bad!) so the impulse would be to buy several or the full collection at one go. The preview images trouble me, but the images here look more than adequate... very nice. I think I must do this.

artistheat ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 6:09 PM

There updates are regular and not just one item but a whole lot of stuff at once..IMHO You can't get a better deal any where else in the net...Joining Daz only give you the privilege of buying stuff at low cost..Poserworld opens the doors to there warehouse at one low price nothing else to buy..Posestyle gives you one low price also but there updates are very few...As for the preview pics yea I have to agree some of them do not flatter his work..lol

pokeydots ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 6:45 PM

Not to mention once you join you have access to everything they have created, not just the latest downloads :)

Yes, you pay your membership to Poserworld once, and get everything they have as long as the membership lasts. In contrast, the DAZ Platinum club charges you a $29 startup fee, and $7.95 a month before you even buy anything. If you don't buy anything this month, you still pay $7.95.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Sun, 27 February 2005 at 9:41 PM

An anual subscription is $60.

You can also renew that annual subscription at $40.00.

Poserworld is the best deal going in Poserdom -- bar none. You won't find as many different models, for as many different figures, anywhere else. Not for an amount approaching $60.00 (or $40.00) -- and that's for sure.

I bought a lifetime subscription for $100 (the original price) way back when the site first started. Never regretted it. Now I feel downright guilty about how much cool stuff I've gotten for that comparatively small price. Best investment in Poser stuff ever. -jsemp

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 28 February 2005 at 10:11 AM

The quality varies. You aren't gonna get something of the same quality as a Stonemason, or Uzilite product with your subscription (at least not usually) But Most of the stuff is VERY useful. One of the best things about Poserworld is that Steve will take requests. When I first signed up I got 2 Costumes made that I needed for my movie. They are perfect! When you also consider that they support a wide range of characters with most clothes, the value just can't be beat. I've never regretted my lifetime subscription.

I'm really happy I read this thread!! I JUST (within the hour) subscribed - just for 3 months. Is there any break on renewing the 3 mos or upgrading to a year? I've been sitting here killing time reading the forums impatiently waiting for my key to come in. I noticed this thread and couldn't be happier with my decision after reading the above comments!!

And it IS great to feel there is stuff out there that doesn't make you feel like you're making a POOR "B" (or maybe "C" or "D") movie. Sometimes the props are the inspiration to develop something totally different and in looking over their assortment - there are a LOT!

Thanks guys/girls

Jim

Over the years, I've left Poserworld, and tried other subscription sites. I returned to Poserworld. Last time I checked, they don't give a break on the price for renewals. But what the heck.

Francemi ( ) posted Tue, 01 March 2005 at 1:44 AM

I tried to buy an annual subscription but I can't. It won't let me go further than my postal address. As soon as I change United States for Canada, I get a page with an error message. Did this happen to someone else? If it did, how did you solve that problem? Thanks. France

jjsemp well if you feel guilty you can send donations grin we dont mind Berserga I'd like to point at that 2 artists (me and Steve) make between 3-6 items every week. Mason spends weeks one on project... I have maybe 2 days. His stuff really shows the care and detail .. but we have customers who panic when we dont update often enough :) Sure if we spend four weeks on one thing we might match his quality. But I think if we updated once a month we'd get lynched 0.o Francemi, if you're having trouble subscribing use the contact form on our website to send email to Allen and he should be able to fix you up. Oh I'm very aware of that, and wasn't complaining. I was just being honest. After all the poster was concerned about the quality. Occasionally there is the odd modelling bit or mapping issue that needs to be worked around, but for the most part your quality is great, and the value can't be denied. :D And since it was preview renders that turned them off, I'd have to say that the way ANY prop looks has as much to do with how the end user lights, and sets up the render.

Thanks Tyger!!! Yes, I know what you mean. Because I had bought an annual subscription just before they reinstated the lifetime one, I had time all day yesterday to download stuff... I'm not done yet!! I am very happy with my decision. I had considered buying the lifetime subscription at first but when I got there, it wasn't available. But now everything is ok and to tell you the truth, since I will be feeling guilty, I prefer to feel guilty for this reason. lolll France
