Poser 5 tries to give any importet object some kind of "organic look" You can turn this off in the render settings (Smooth polygons) I also would take www.UVMapper.com I guess to split the vertices you need the pro version but it is woth the money if you want to work professional with poser. All my items in the marketplace have split vertices.
