I hate to destroy the American myth, but Irish girls traditionally have raven straight black hair. All of our ballads and songs speak of 'an cailin dubh' Red hair was introduced into Ireland through immigration from Scotland and is not indigenous. I was horrified once on a trip to Boston to see a competition for the most attractive "Irish Girl" . Being genuine 100% Irish with my raven hair, needless to say I wasn't eligible, and me having direct (black) roots to the high king of Ireland and all - old Hugh himself! In my years of schooling in Dublin, in a class of 30 at any point there was always a general ratio of 25 Black: 4 Blonde: 1 Red haired lasses in the class I would also like to point out that the currently popular in plastic surgery circles "Irish nose" is also incorrect, you would have a hard job finding a girl on the streets of Dublin with small nose. We tend to have long classical noses. Phew thats my rant over! There are tons of sleek dark hairstyles available, some even free :-) Helena
