Subject: Posettes head on Vicki's body

Mehndi ( ) posted Fri, 12 January 2001 at 12:32 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 2:58 AM

Does anyone know if anyone has yet transplanted Posettes head to Vicki's body? Is anyone willing to give it a go, or give me a clue how to do this please? It would be so nice to be able to put some of our old lovely heads from good old Posette onto Vicki's more versatile body.

Yes, it's been done. RenaPD did it, and, IIRC, so did WarriorDL. Check PoserWorld and the SciFi site

Ah yes, I think I recall that Renapd did one, but wasnt the face sort of frozen into a new face? for our old morphs and full face morphs to take, we would need the old default face, wouldn't we?

What WarriorDL has is Vicki's head on Posette: http://www.3dposer.com/basic.htm

Warrior's is excellent and straighforward. He has also done the same with Michael and Dorkie. 'Polly' and 'Bobby' both have some minor weirdness around the neck join (strange bulges in some poses), but since one of the main reasons for using them is to access the zillions of clothes for the P4 figures, it often isn't a problem. I still think the P4 figure bodies are more realistic than the Millennium figures' efforts.

You're right; I misread the request - I thought someone had done this, but it wasn't as "earth-shattering" as doing the opposite, and wasn't talked about much... ;-)

I want to do the opposite of what has been done already. Get my old full face morphs I spent ages making, onto Vicki somehow. So that means Vicki needs Posettes head. Now how would one go about giving Vicki the head of Posette I wonder?

The hard part would be getting the vertices to match up at the neck. Guess I should DL warrior's figure and see what his solution was.

LOL - the worst of both worlds. And I misread the request, too.

A while ago, Mobius was posting pictures with posette's head on Vickies body. He did an amazing job with it.

I've also been hoping that someone would post this (Posette head & Vicky body). Though I understand why one might consider this "the worst of both worlds", I've a bunch of old characters with the face MT's just the way I want them, but the bodys still have the P4 joint problems. Wasn't there a really comprehensive tute posted on this transplanting processs?

I made one on geomSwitching, but that doesn't address problems with the new head and old neck matching up vertex wise.

The Posette head with a better body is what Eve provided. It has the separate buttocks, the breasts as part of the collars and repositioned joint centers that improve posing. There are a number of versions of the figure, and morphs galore for them at Traveler's Morphworld. The standard Vicky body has no option for Genitalia (although I have a version that does) but you can get Eve with or without.

I have to disagree JohnW, after having struggled now for weeks to make Eve a viable option for a character. I like Eve alot, and she has DEFINATE advantages, however her quirkyness is just too much... at least for a character aimed at marketing commercially. Perhaps Eve used exactly as she is setup would work fine, I am not sure on that one, however for the purposes of morphing and rescaling, Eve swiftly falls apart and leaves nothing but a serious mess that then takes alot of work to try to repair.

It would probably take all of two minutes to substitute the head in Compose, but the location would not be correct. The neck is different and I get the circumference is different. I know that it is possible to set it right in RDS, but then RDS would do a war dance on the materials in the obj file. Would it work to do the adjustment in RDS and just replace the "v" section in the old one (Pre-RDS) with this one?
