THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: A bad but bryce related thought thread.

Let's just hope that the the faster renders in Bryce 5.5 were not made possible by removing that pesky AntiAliasing function.

The faster render times are made possible by the combined processing power of ten thousand robotic shrews. AntiAliasing shall remain.

Are those shrews running on a hamster wheel that drives the thing? I say hamster wheel because as far as I know they don't make a shrew wheel.

I hope the interface in 6.0 is not changed too look like DAZ Studio. I tried DAZ Studio for the first time yesterday and I wanted to re-arange the windows a bit, made a mess of it, and couldnt figure out how to reset it back to the original settings. I had to re-install it to fix it. I dont like DAZ Studio interface.

I tried Daz studio a couple of months ago I could not even do a simple thing like highlight and move a body part, it made me glad to own poser. I hope daz improves this especially if it's going to be part of bryce.

Speed improvement in Bryce 5.5 is because they cleaned up some sloppy coding. Studio will not be a part of Bryce. You will be able to launch Studio from Bryce, automatically loading the selected figure. The figure will be tagged so that Studio opens the original (still poseable) figure, not the .obj file. You can then make adjustments to the figure in Studio and re-export it to Bryce, with the .obj in Bryce being updated automatically. Relax, DAZ is trying to save Bryce, not bury it.

Sounds good to me Xenic. I was just kidding about the getting rid of the AntiAliasing. Sure would speed it up though. (Fast But OOOOGGGLEEEY)

You can turn off AA now. You want fast? turn off the sun and don't add lights.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 9:58 PM

Yup, all true. Bryce's old code just needed BIG TIME defragging, lol. DAZ is pretty strict about B5.5 renders looking just like the old renders, just being faster. DAZ IS betatesting new "Studio" versions along with Bryce. Bryce 6.0's GUI...It most likely will be changed compared to what we are used to in B5, but I don't believe they will make it look like Studio at all. I'd tell you why, but then I would have to kill....uh, myself. AS

Heheh, I think Bryces old code just need fragging (and re-writing entirely) lol Daz Studio seems to have hit some bumps with the DS renderer (from looking in the DS forum at daz), so it wouldn't surprise me if that has some effect on the b5.5 release date.

edit - and I have a memory of in some thread, one of the daz folks saying something about they did a pixel by pixel comparison of B5 and B5.5 renders and they were the same.

I tried DAZ Studio again and I still dont like the interface, I understand its in beta stage, but so was Bryce. They should redo the Gui for DAZ its not intuitive. Ok I'm done bashing DAZ Studio Gui....for now.

adh3d ( ) posted Mon, 07 March 2005 at 8:34 AM

Realistic character animation in Bryce, with or without studio will be the thing I need to buy Bryce 6. And please, animate the vegetation , he he .

Analog-X.... I agree with you. I do not like DAZ Studio at all. And I too think the GUI is not all that intuitive.
