If you think that it is foul play and that "Lucifer" is just a sock-puppet than report that to the moderators and coordinators. The first is a quote from Monty Python, the holy grail. A scene in wich they want to burn the women no matter what, not because she was a witch but because they want to burn someone anyway. But that's not even the point. Zahn made it very clear that burning people on stake has no place in this forum. Yet some are quite willing to continue it..

If I'm a sock puppet who's controlling me?

OK I've just gone back over my old thread & I can see why some would think I'm just a troll, for all that it matters I used to have a gallery in my previous incarnation on here but during a rather stupid flounce I deleted it & haven't posted a single render here or anywhere else since, that doesn't make me anyone's puppet or stooge.

If it's the general feeling that you'd all rather I didn't post anything else then I will make this my last post on Renderosity & just stick to lurking in future.

Message edited on: 03/09/2005 05:20 ps I sincerely apologise for offending anyone with my opinions in that other thread.

Some of this stuff I'm reading is way over my head, and a bit confusing. Maybe its a sign I'm getting too old. Anyways, at the end of the day this place is for us to Share our Art / Hobby, sometimes topics come up that will be controversial, there will always be some who will be offended. I've belonged to many Forums in the past, present and future I try not to take things too personally. Its unfortunate that RobertJ wants to move on, maybe overtime wounds will heal and he will return.

I need to cool off in the first place.

But my opinion stands, the witchhunt must end. I agree that people should be adressed when their deeds violate the TOS of Renderosity.

But goddamn, don't let this be turned into a witchhunt, there are people out there who don't like Bush and its security and foreign politics, learn to live with it.

I don't like terrorist either, but i also don't feel anything for Bush and Co.

Respect for those who fell on 9/11, even those who fall in Iraq, as i understand the number of Americans killed in Iraq now stand over 1500 and more than 10x times that seriously wounded.

But.... there is this nagging but.....

(to the post I just deleted) Lets keep this thread polite, otherwise it will just turn into a thread like the others. Also, as Zhann (and others have stated before) this is the Bryce forum, not the OT or political forum. We understand such subjects are given to strong opinions one way or another, but this is just not the area to hash it all out in. Thanks, I appreciate it. AgentSmith

i've followed both the previous threads and didn't deign to comment. i had pretty negative impressions of the render in question, but, felt that the "artist" didn't really deserve the attention he was getting. i commented on his picture, but, purely from an artistic viewpoint....ie perspective, composition, etc. now, i am reading a number of you are leaving the site because of this hoopla. good grief. seems you're cutting off your noses over a set too in the forums. that surely gives the render alot more power than i think it deserves. and, this type of stuff was foreseeable in the forums when they shut down the OT forum. Pop....Pop....Poppi!!!!

markostimpy ( ) posted Wed, 09 March 2005 at 8:42 AM

Renderosity. A place for pretty pictures, advice on advancing CG art and a place to store that art for others to see. That is all. Yahoo has plenty of religion and politics forums. Suggest choosing the proper location on the web to discuss individual topics of interest. If I wish to discuss things other than CG art, I will go to the proper forum to do just that.

I can't believe you DIDN'T get the Python quote AS. Sheesh. Funny thing is though Robert...if you recall then end of that scene the woman's last words are: "It's a fair cop" Meaning she is confessing to actually BEING a witch. In the end there are things that are said here that create emotional responses...on both sides of an issue...and here I insert the "nagging but" ...but there is a fine line between social commentary and hate mongering. That line was probably crossed and re-crossed in the previous discussion. Is that really reason enough for you to walk away from all that IS good in this community? Rather than leaving I think you should propose a forum challenge: "The Nagging Butt"...produce a non-political render that illustrates this phrase. In the end we all hope you'll choose to stay. All the best, Curtis

I'm thinking of reviving a political party from the 19th century,.........The Know Nothing Party,........anybody want to join,........our platform on all issues is simple,......"I dunno". We have no opinions on any issues and the depth of our ignorance is staggering. We are eternally vexed.

Sackrat, I think that if you listen carefully, that political party already exists in every country. They have different names now like Tories, Liberals, Labour, Republican, Democrat, Social Union and such.

I understand RobertJ's decision, it's just so unfortunate that he removed his gallery because he's one of my favorite artists for a long time.

Does Renderosity have an "Off topic forum"? That would be great so issues like the one in question can be moved there. Obviously there are issues that are important to many of the members that don't belong to any of the forums, but where else can they be posted?

It is possible to use your art to express your opinions, even about politics and religion. See if you can do so without offending. That takes REAL talent. Anyone can be offensive. That's EASY. Making a REAL STATEMENT with art is HARD. And a sense of humor that doesn't depend on ridiculing someone else's deeply held convictions wouldn't hurt, either. Instead of arguing all the time, let's put some of that excess energy to work creating some worthwhile Bryce renders. Love, John
