Personally, I was glad to see Vadar redeemed.
That little incident added a certain element of hope to the story.
All of us would like to be forgiven.
Or at least, we should be be made self-aware of the fact that we have all done things for which we need to be forgiven.
Under a system of totally unbending law, no one would be spared punishment. No one. One doesn't have to be a Jeffery Dahmer, a Hitler, or a Ted Bundy to have done wrong to others in one's lifetime.
