My render window that tells you what its doing does disappear at times when my scene is complex as you say, but if i leave hte computer alone... the render happens to just appear. i always choose the render to appear in its own separate window.
On very complex scenes -- more often than not -- P5 will choke on the render. Even if P5 is the only program running.
You can have a super-hot computer, with tons of RAM -- and this problem will still persist.
Some of the render tricks like changing the Bucket size can help -- occasionally. But usually not.
I solved this problem by purchasing Vue 4 Professional (Vue Infinite should be arriving in my mailbox sometime in the next week or so -- it's supposed to start shipping tomorrow).
Since I now render my Poser scenes in Vue, I no longer experience Poser's render lock-up problem.
