THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: need texturizing help

Does anyone know how to take textures from bryce and use them in another program? I know you can export the .mtl file, but that does me no good, as none of my other programs use that type of material file. I'm especially looking for something that I can use in 3D Studio MAX, Strata 3D, or Rhino. Such as: how to get .mtl files to .bmp, .tif, or .jpg. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

I wanted to do that once.. and cheated. I rendered a VERY large square to file. Then went into photoshop, deleted everything except the texture I was after.. resaved it.. and just used the resulting jpg as a texture map.

The doctor says I have way too much blood in my caffeine system.

yup, that's the only way to do it. Note that what you'll get is a 2-D texture map 'skin' that you can wrap an object... there is no way to transfer Bryce's 3D texture mapping stuff into another program. It is for this reason that many people choose to do their modelling in 3DSmax and import the models into Bryce for texturing and rendering.

Thanks, I'll have to try that... I am mainly concerned with textures that I create in the Deep Texture Editor (yeah, whoo hoo, takes an hour to get one texture to look right) and it just seems like I can never get the bryce environment to do what I want it to... oh well, guess that's why they have books for it...

When I want to get a texture out of the DTE, I set up my 2D program to do a screen capture then I click on the combination window - It renders a nice big swatch of it and then I just capture it, crop away the black and save it. Jade
