funny... I dont see how this looks anything like the gremlins from the movie...
besides... werent the monchichis a copyright infringement of the mogwai from "Gremlins"?
(oops I think I just dated myself)
anyway... unfortunately (and I know this from the music/production industry) a copyright infringement can only be claimed if the product matches a certain amount of features.
It can still be a little bit different and not be a copyright infringement. That's why people can steal beats COUGHVANILLAICECOUGH and still come out smelling like a rose.
It's a fine line, but if you walk it close enough... there is no copyright infringement.
The gremline model - remember was a physical puppet... noone has made it a virtual puppet before. maybe this is where DAZ can do what they did with it.
Gremlin is also not termed as "a star of a movie made by blah bla blah."
it is an actual word:
(from dictionary.com)
This could be why they can use the name - because it is an actual word... you can't trademark a word.
Hope this helps a little ^_^.
