If it's a standard prop, i.e. "NOT a smart one" then you'll need to parent it to the character, for example A gun would need to be "parented" to the hand [the hand would be the guns parent]. If it's a smart prop you wouldn't need to do this. Hope that hasn't confused you even more!!
