Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
It would be odd that a mail order catalog would sell it for more than what Curious Labs own website states, which is "$149.00". keep in mind too, catalogs are printed months in advance, in anticipation of the "Fall 2000" release of Pro-Pack. I still get catalogs selling Metacreations Poser, Bryce, etc. as if Metacreations was still in existence and M.C. were actually supporting the software... In keeping with Metacreations tradition (as well as some others) after a series of missed product shipment deadlines, we should next see the release of "Pro-Pack T-shirts", a final "yes, we really are finally shipping it", and then the actual arrival of the software, weeks or months later. Sorry about the cynicism. I've seen so much of this over the years- but hopefully someday pro-pack will emerge and it will do what they say it will do. If it does, I would certainly buy it. (and not steal it...)
This sorta thing goes on all the time with Video Games. You open a magazine and find mail order places selling games for systems that aren't even OUT yet. They make everything appear as if they already have the product and will ship immediately. People who are desperate for the product scramble to make the order...only to find out when they call them up inquiring as to where it is that the company was merely "taking" your order and will ship it to you the minute it comes out. Companies do this to secure the cash from people before others can...they often charge more for the product and end up ripping you off when it comes out at a cheaper price elsewhere. Their excuse? You paid more to order it first. Then to top it off, they don't often deliver on time either! I have a friend who is always buying from these places and he always ends up paying more and getting the product AFTER me. Their excuse? "Oh the company screwed up and didn't send us the order in time...sorry about that..(we still charged you more and have a no refund policy...)" You're better off waiting until the official release...then if you want to go elsewhere...go for it. :) PAN~
