Subject: Slight Camera Problem - P6

I found a camera bug. A bit annoying but I can work around it.

Load a figure into the scene. Now select the face camera. Delete that figure from the scene and without changing the camera, load a new figure. The camera's locks - i.e. you can't move it in the parameter dials or the camera controls (regular or mini trackballs). Now change the camera to a different one (like Main). Works fine.

Um, 'scuze me but, I do not believe that is a "bug" per se. When you delete Figure#1, you leave the Face Camera "in limbo" so to speak (i.e., locked up). All you need to do is not delete a figure when you have the Face Camera selected. N'est pas? ;=]

Well, yeah I can side-step it, for certain. However, this doesn't happen in ProPack (just checked to be completely sure) and I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen in Poser 5 - though I uninstalled it so I can't check now.

... OK, ok, I'm back ... you are correct ... if you have the Face cam selected and delete the figure and then load a new one, the Face cam automatically points at the new figure. ;=[ slinks off with tail between legs

Don't slink off, I'm just probably the only wierdo who leaves the face cam on often. ;)

Nah Joseph, my Poser version opens with the face cam as default, so you're not alone ;)

netherwords that was very polite slinkage redemption!

VisionAiry (nice name) are you saying if you open up poser by double clicking on the app you get the default character with the FACE CAMERA selected?

What version of Poser?

Hiya Opera... I use version 5, and actually, I have it set up so it opens with a blank window and the face camera selected. It's done by setting everything up the way you want, then going to the edit menu, then "preferences". Select the current as your new interface settings(sorry, I don't have Poser open right now, so I'm not sure what the exact wording is). The next time you open Poser, it should open that way.

operaguy ( ) posted Tue, 22 March 2005 at 5:54 PM

oh, yes, i know how to do that....i thought you were saying Poser was FORCING the face camera to be the default. ::::: Opera :::::

I think Geep is right on this one. Recalled seeing something like this without really defining the problem.... so I tried it just now in PP. Loaded a figure, set face cam, deleted figure. The cam is locked at that point (which sort of makes sense, except that it would make more sense to drop back to Main Cam). Brought in a different fig, face cam is still locked. So this is a bug, but not a brand-new one.

In case any of you have forgotten, you can add any camera you want to the poser camera control thingy. Up at the top of the camera controls, there are 3 icons - a hand, a face (center) and another face on the right (doing this from memory). Select a camera, then alt-click on the face in the center. That icon will now change to store the cam you selected (and stay that way). I have this in P4, but for some reason, it will NOT work for me in P5. Along with a host of other things. Two years later, and I'm STILL trying to have 'show figure circle' unchecked by default. LOL. mac

P4 = ok PP = not ok P5 = ok P6 = not ok (code copied from PP ?) Just a thought. ;=]

In a related might be a bug "feature" if you have the face (or hand) camera selected and click on a difrent figure the camera remains pointed at the first figure. Very helpful when working on interaction between figures. I often accidently click the other figure and I'm suddenly looking at the wrong thing in P5. P6 leaves the camera at the same figure. If you want the camera to change use the drop down to select the other figure. Nerd3D

re: Nerd I like the sound of that, a lot. I am currently on a binge of making multi-figure poses, and this will make things a LOT easier. Now I just have to wait until my box gets here...
