Haha, that reminds me of when I was a teenager and my cousin was trying to teach me the guitar. I'm right handed, but tend to do many things as a lefty. My cousin is right handed. I just couldn't manage to move my fingers around the cords with my left hand, so he turned the guitar upside down so I could manage the cords with my right hand and pluck upwards with my left, lol To the original poster, take your time to recover and don't rush the process.
