A long time ago Borland brought Turbo Pascal to the market. The price was so low that it was almost cheaper to buy the product than to copy the manuals and the floppy disks! As a result, software piracy was a non-issue for Turbo Pascal. They quickly wiped out all PC based Pascal competition and made a fortune. And hundreds of thousands hobbyist Pascal programmers were very happy. I was one of them. Now I would love to see this business model put to use again!
