This isn't a flame, but I have no idea what you're talking about. What products? I have seen a minority of texture add-ons that looked too simple to be worth purchasing, but in general, most of DAZ' "Published Artists" do detailed, non-flood fill / non-hue shift textural work. The Platinum Club texture artists like Moyra and LisaB put great effort into the sorts of details that can't be achieved through E-Z flood filling or hue shifting. I'm sorry if you consider this a flame, which you evidently expect and invite, but without knowing exactly what products you're talking about, I've gotta say ... your assertion is just plain false. If you can indicate what textures you're referring to, perhaps a reasonable conversation about this could get going.

yep...you found my secret. My dragons were all flood filled, saved me from having to spend months trying to match up all the wrinkles at the seams. My GAD was a bit more complex and had only 20 odd layers of flood fills built up with variing levels of transparency to pretend to simulate the complex details of the translucency of skin. LOL Yep...we are all just faking it so we can milk fortunes off of poser shoppers LOL (yes...all this is said tongue-in-cheek because, while I am not at all impressed by the post, I am not insulted either, because I am sure that my (and most DAZ) products can speak for themselves as to quality) Rawn
haha..no worries, I am thick skinned (and arrogant enough to believe that people must not be talking about me in such situations LOL) But with regards to tiled fills on textures....I think the real question is "does it look good in the final render?"...and if so, then why worry about how the texture is made. but thats just my 2

I find them quite boring. To much of something is not a good thing, in this case. I'm not trying to dis Daz. There are still many other things to get from there that are worth it. My P6 has arrived time to install and see what this baby can do.
Thanks for posting examples. I don't recognize them, but agree that they're boring. :-) One of the great things about P5 and P6 is that you have a lot of control when it comes to replacing boring or inappropriate textures. The "weave" node, properly adjusted and used as displacement bump at low gain, can turn just about any seamless texture tile into realistic-looking fabric. Typically, you have to increase the U and V scales on the weave node by about 400% IIRC ... increasing makes the weave pattern smaller ... the default is enormous. The free satin and velvet materals at RDNA are great ... really easy to adjust the hue or the specularity node "to taste." I've also found it useful to create grayscale weave maps (using flood fill, LOL) that you can use as bump nodes. Of course, simple replacement techniques like this work best when your mesh has intelligent material zones.
Otherwise, it's best to create your own full texture maps, which is something I enjoy doing, I just wish I were better at it!

One texturer? or many? or all of them? How many of the thousands of products have you purchased to compare to? Brokered textures? DAZ originals?
I use the weave node quite a bit, I always wondered why the default was so big. I do feel sorry for those that don't want to learn the material rooms, they really don't know what their missing. Spit, you don't need me to say the %. You can look in many threads and or products to see it. That fine, just don't expect a sale from me. Others will pay for it. What I purchased is a shamefully major amount from them. I'm a Daz addict and need help. You have no ideal at how hard that last sale was on me. The only saving grace was being charge for P6 at the same time. I have no self control with Daz sales.

I have wondered lately if it's a Daz requisite to use the same flood textures on every product. Seems all these textures are using the same texture and just changing the color. I haven't bought a texture from Daz in quite a while because of this. Hey why not make one texture for said item and I can change the color myself. Would save a lot of time and cost the buyer less. Now I know some of the texture artists are going to start flamming me. I don't know what I talking about or I put a lot of thought into that color, just don't pay attention to the seam that shows. Yaddy, yaddy,yadda. I have great respect for an artist that can texture well, I'm just tired of the same thing over and over again. Flame away as some of you no doubt will, don't care. I'm just giving the post office time to sort my mail before I drive into town to pick it up. My P6 is waiting there now too.
