For the people wondering what the text on the memorial is: "On the 3rd and 29th of October 1944 this dyke was breached by allied bombs for the purpose of liberating Walcheren. Westkapelle was destroyed. Walcheren was flooded by the sea. November 1st landing of the allied forces. November 8th Walcheren liberated October 3rd 1945 the hole in the dyke was closed. Walcheren can rise again."
