Keep in mind Apophysis creates a special kind of fractal called a flame fractal. This is a completely different style of fractal art than traditional Mandel/Julia type manipulation. It's best to decide what kind of fractals you'd like to begin with. Most of my work is done using Ultra Fractal 3 but I do use Apophysis as well. The image link above is an example of art that uses both UF3 and AP.
