"Sparky" is almost a dead ringer for a certain "Lightning/Thunder Rat" in a series of certain games/cards/cartoons/socks/wrist watches/ect. involving tiny creatures that fight each other and apparently live in tiny red/white balls. Ahem... Pika, pika...
