Subject: Perdith: Bryce 5 vs. 5.5 Heightmap render speed

So if you open a Bryce 5 file and render its slow but if you open and resave the same into a Bryce 5.5 format it renders faster? What does that mean? I just hope its not at the expense of losing image quality.
