Comedy is fine... sarcasm and personal attacks are not. I had the unpleasent experience recently of reading a thread on a movie site that was originally intended to discuss why many people dislike the movie "Paycheck". A few posts logically discussed the issue, and then one member began posting extremely sarcastic and useless threads intended to be funny--at the target's expense. After this they had people cheering him/her on, because the sarcasm really was fairly humorous at times, and anyone who voiced an opinion differing from his/her was immediately broadsided with a blistering attack from this personage. Obviously this hindered the free expression of ideas. "Which happens to be the approach they take here at good 'ol "non-free-speech" Rendo." Renderosity is all about the free expression of ideas without fear. Whether you are sensitive to insult or not is irrelevent. The basic concept is free expression; without the mods locking down threads and deleting posts that are a hindrance to this concept, you have this same thing happening. BTW XENOPHONZ, in case there is any confusion on this, I am not talking primarily about your very light form of sarcasm. Just to clarify. An "ignore" feature might not be a bad idea. I can't think of anyone I have met that I would like to "ignore" (except possibly myself =P). I think that the mods and admins do a very effective job of this for us. Sorry this is so long. I am admittedly somewhat long-winded. =)
