"kick the dead horse" as the expression seems to be here
"Beating a dead horse" is the usual phrase. It shares forum time with "pass the popcorn" and more recently "hamsters" (at least around here).
I suppose that the process of beating a dead horse could involve kicking.
The problem with kicking a dead horse is that the horse might turn out to be alive. In which case the animal might kick back. And horses can kick pretty hard.
Yes, the mods & admins here do an excellent job.
Especially considering the things that they commonly have to deal with.
The administration deserves more thanks than they get -- fielding a frequently thankless job.
