Well, something is obscuring the lower part. If there's something between the object and the camera (viewport) Object Mask renders in white just what's visible to the camera. Or something is fishy with the view? Is it the correct view? Doesn't look even like the upper sphere alone. Booleans (simple ones) work normally for me.
